🌾Read this before your harvest starts rotting

Hey friend,

This is the part of summer where your garden starts making decisions for you.

A handful of berries turns into a mushy mess.

A few vegetables turn into a counter full of “I should really deal with that today.”

And your "quick prep" stir-fry or salad turns into you sweating away an extra 15 minutes, cutting out all the "bad bits" from your not-so-fresh garden produce.

Over the years, I’ve learned that preserving food doesn’t always mean a big canning day.

Sometimes it means freezing a small batch.

Sometimes it means storing things better so they last a little longer.

And sometimes it means admitting you don’t have a root cellar, a perfect pantry, or a full free afternoon, and working with what you do have.

So today’s reads are all about saving more of the harvest before it gets away from you.

P.S. If you're looking for sturdy kitchen equipment this summer, Pleasant Hill Grain has cookware on sale. Today I saw Bosch mixers and Nutrimill items marked down, plus several vacuum sealers (scroll down their sale page and you'll see them).
