Hey friend,

Cucumber season always starts out so politely.

One or two on the counter. Maybe a few in the fridge.

Then suddenly you’ve got a pile of them, and everyone in the house is asking why there are cucumbers beside the sink, on the shelf, and in the crisper drawer.

So today’s email is all about staying ahead of them.

A few jars of pickles and a better storage plan can save a lot of food from going soft before you get to it.

Garlic Dill Pickles

These garlic dill pickles are practical, useful, and exactly the kind of thing you’ll be glad to find on the pantry shelf later.

How to Store Cucumbers

Not every cucumber needs to become a pickle.

People-pleasing Pickle Recipes

Don’t deal with the whole harvest today.

Just start with the veggies already sitting on the counter.

Until next time,

Sarita

P.S. TSC has some garden sale items right now, so it’s worth a quick look if you’re filling gaps in your summer setup.

July 2026 Food Preservation Summit

Hey friend, If berries are showing up in your kitchen this weekend, don’t wait too long. They always look manageable at first. Then one day they’re soft, sticky, and begging to be used before they end up in the compost. That’s why this weekend’s newsletter is all about saving the good stuff before it slips away. A few jars now can make winter meals feel a little easier later. Food Preservation Summit July 6 through July 8 Quick note: There’s also a free food preservation summit coming up from...

And the berries, sandwiches, muffins, leftovers and “quick” meals don’t last nearly as long as I think they will. Yet somehow, even with the garden growing and the pantry stocked, the grocery bill still starts creeping up. That’s when I know it’s time for a reset. Not a big dramatic one. Just a simple look at what we already have, what we can stretch,...
