🏡 Want your kids to actually like homestead chores?

Hey friend,

There’s a big difference between giving kids chores and teaching them how to take responsibility for useful work.

Feeding animals. Helping in the garden.

Learning how to use tools safely.

Cooking.

Cleaning up.

Figuring out what to do when something doesn’t go according to plan.

Those everyday jobs can teach kids an awful lot.

That’s why I wanted to let you know about a new free online training happening this Wednesday, August 12.

It’s called Raising Successful Kids on the Homestead, and Josh Thomas is leading it.

Josh and Carolyn Thomas bring more than 22 years of hands-on parenting and homesteading experience to this topic. The training will focus on practical ways to:

  • help kids participate safely around tools and animals
  • make homestead work something they can take pride in instead of simply another chore
  • use everyday responsibilities to build character and practical life skills

The training starts Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT / 2 p.m. MT / 3 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. ET.

And here’s something I appreciate: you don’t have to attend live.

Everyone who registers will get the replay by email.

Josh will also give attendees a look inside the new Traditional Skills Academy, a homeschool-friendly, student-guided curriculum built around practical life skills.

The Academy itself isn’t free.

But people who watch the live training or replay will receive an exclusive 20% discount on enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year.

So even if Wednesday afternoon doesn’t work for you, I’d register now and save the replay for later.

P.S. The free training is Wednesday, August 12. Registering now means the replay will land in your inbox even if life gets busy that afternoon.

This email contains an affiliate link. If you later join the Traditional Skills Academy through my link, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Hey Reader September can change quickly. One week the windows are open, and you’re still dealing with the garden. Hey Reader September is National Preparedness Month, so now's a good reminder to take another look at preparedness. And I don’t mean filling a shopping cart with survival gear or worrying about every possible disaster. The boring stuff matters first. Do you have food your family will actually eat? Could you manage through a power outage? Does everyone in the house know what to do if you can’t reach each other? That’s where I’d start. Survival Preparedness for Beginners If preparedness feels...
